STEPS TO SALVATION

Where do I start?:

God loves me and has a purpose for my life.

Romans 1:6-7 - "...including you who are called to belong to Jesus Christ, To all those in Rome who are loved by God and called to be saints: Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ."

What's my problem?

My Sin

Romans 3:10 - "as it is written: “None is righteous, no, not one"

Romans 3:23 - "for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God"

Why is that important?

I am accountable for my sin

Romans 3:19 - "Now we know that whatever the law says it speaks to those who are under the law, so that every mouth may be stopped, and the whole world may be held accountable to God."

Romans 1:8 - "First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for all of you, because your faith is proclaimed in all the world."

Romans 6:23 - "For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."

Who can help me?

Only Jesus

Romans 5:6-8 - "For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. For one will scarcely die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die— but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us."

When can it happen?

Now!

1) I put my faith in Jesus alone

Romans 1:16 - "For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek."
Romans 3:22 - "the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe. For there is no distinction"
Ephesians 2:8-9 - "but for those who are self-seeking and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, there will be wrath and fury. There will be tribulation and distress for every human being who does evil, the Jew first and also the Greek"

2) I repent of my sin
Romans 2:4 - "Or do you presume on the riches of his kindness and forbearance and patience, not knowing that God's kindness is meant to lead you to repentance?"

3) I believe in and confess Jesus as Lord
Romans 10:10 - "For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved."

How an I make this decision today?

1) Receive His call for salvation and receive freely what he has to offer me by grace through faith.
2) Admit that I am a sinner and call on Jesus to save me from my sin against God
3) Believe that Jesus died on the cross for my sin against God by trusting Him as my Savior. He is the only one who can save me from my sin against God.
4) I must turn from my life of sin and commit to making Jesus the Lord (authority) over my life in every way and forever. I will follow where He leads and at any cost.
5) I must call upon Jesus to save me by grace through faith.

Model Prayer:

This is a model prayer, meaning that it has no power in and of itself unless it is driven by a repentant heart. Keep in mind while you pray a similar prayer, that nowhere does the Bible say that a prayer saves you, but you must understand that it is Jesus alone who saves. Your prayer is a confession of your belief in who He is and what He has already done for you. It is a sincere act of faith that relies only on Jesus to save you from your sin against God. As you commit to His authority, understand that following Jesus will require unrestricted access and unquestioned allegiance to Jesus wherever He may lead.

"Lord Jesus Christ, I confess that I am a sinner and that I cannot save myself. I believe that you are the Son of God who died on the cross for my sin against God. I confess that you were raised from the dead so that I might live in victory over my sin. By faith, I now turn from my life of sin and trust you as my personal Savior and commit to making you the authority over the rest of my life. From this moment forward I will take up my cross and die to myself, committing to follow you wherever you lead, regardless of the cost.

In your name, Amen!"
